Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[C-11]ARMI (also referred to as [11C]ARMI) is a novel carbon-11 labeled radioligand developed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of central nervous system alpha-1A adrenoceptors (α1A-AR). It exhibits subnanomolar affinity and high selectivity for the α1A-AR subtype, which is highly expressed in brain regions associated with fear conditioning and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), such as the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex. Developed through a collaboration involving the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the University of Washington, and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, [C-11]ARMI is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to localize and measure α1A-AR density in the brain and body of healthy volunteers, with potential future applications in studying PTSD, Alzheimer's disease, and post-concussive headache.
